  big love will be showing some of the iiner workings of mormon temple rituals this sunday.

  it could freak a lot of people out.

  i wanted to write and tell how/why people would do something so wierd.. there have been several huge changes to the temple ceremony.

  The whole thing of Joseph Smith and the gold plates is a myth. Otherwise the plates would be on display in a museum or the Mormon temple.

  Can't you say the same thing about the original manuscripts for the Bible...where are they? There are only copies floating around, and the "newest" copy is over 100 years from the actual events. And for those that say who can believe J. Smith saw Jesus; who can believe Paul and Stephen saw Jesus?....oh that's right, millions of Christians. And to the faithful Jews at the time of the Apostles, the biggest CULT around was Christians. (the "heretics"). What it comes down to on both sides is faith.

  old man out of touch and old fool were among the names ive been called in my many discussions on jw related board dialogues.. some of them were true.

  We're of the same generation. We're just down "the road" more than those starting out, and man will their opinions change when they get to where we are (and it happens oh soooo fast). I just laugh at some of their comments and think two things.... 1) I use to sometimes think that way; and 2) "bite me".

  A "twist" on Nigerian Letter scam (Russian spies)

  the follow is one of 5 emails i've received this week promising me millions - (ye olde nigerian funds scame) - however, this has a new "ring" to it regarding russian spies.

  i found it intriguing, yet had to laugh at how unprofessional the typing was.

  now i ask you, if this had even a 1 % chance of being true, would you want to be involved with russian spies murdering people?

  th is an interesting point.

  apostates always bang on about watchtower double speak and the way the society twists words, investing them with mind-control triggers but rarely do we hear about censorship by omission, the words jw's can't speak.

  Mormons believe that Jesus and Satan are brother

  Only in the sense that we are all children of God, Jesus being the firstborn. Satan just never made it to earth and received a physical body.

  I think they believe god lives on Jupiter. Don't JWs teach god lives on Pleides?

  Wrong. That will just give their missionaries something to laugh at.

  They think the mark of Cain is that god turned them black.

  Like a lot of American Christian churches 100 years ago, previously it was taught that African Americans carried the mark of Cain. That is no longer the case.

  I've attended many mormon meetings and have many mormon friends. Just have a friendly dinner and be direct but polite. If they ask you if you would like to know more about the mormon church, just say, maybe....but you would like to do the research yourself. Just be firm....most of the ones I know aren't pushy. Again, ask any questions you might have, but let them know you'll do the investigating on your own. I agree with POPPERS -" inform them that you aren't interested in any religion at this time"

  One more thought ... a good weasel out line is: "I'm not prepared to make any appointments now or in the near future" (in other words, don't contact me, I'll contact you)
